Background

The 2026 Green Party Budget projects a 5% fundraising increase despite recent history of declining fundraising, cuts committee funding to $0 for all committees except revenue-generating committees, and funds very little except essential operating expenses, 2 full-time staff, and 2 contractors: a fundraiser and a media coordinator.

With all discretionary funds committed to essentials and staff, any budget shortfall will result in unsustainable deficit spending.

This proposed budget amendment is to cut the part-time media coordinator position. While staff cuts are not desired, stopping the onboarding of new staff in an orderly manner is preferable to running out of funds and cutting staff haphazardly, as may happen if revenues stay flat or go a little bit down down, or if expenses go slightly up.

Proposal

Eliminate the contract media coordinator position. If that person has not been onboarded yet, do not onboard. If they have been onboarded, follow the provisions of their contract and any relevant labor laws to cut the position as soon as practical.

Resources

Plan is to be implemented upon approval. This proposal saves money.
