Background

The Green Party of the United States is committed to the Four Pillars: Peace, Social Justice, Grassroots Democracy, and Ecological Wisdom. These principles require accountability for violations of international law and human rights.

The Green Party has consistently opposed U.S. militarism and intervention in the Middle East, including:

- U.S. military actions against Iran
- U.S. support for Israeli military operations in Gaza and attacks impacting Lebanon
- The provision of weapons and logistical support contributing to mass civilian harm

The party has called for ceasefires, adherence to international law, and an end to U.S. military aid enabling human rights violations .

Given documented U.S. involvement—directly and through material support—in destructive military actions across the region, a principled commitment to justice requires advancing the demand for reparations.

Proposal

The Green Party of the United States shall:

1. Publicly affirm that the United States bears responsibility for material, military, and political support contributing to large-scale destruction and loss of life in Iran, Lebanon, and Gaza.

2. Call for full reparations, including:

- Reconstruction funding for civilian infrastructure
- Compensation for victims and families
- Environmental remediation for war-related damage
- Long-term economic recovery assistance

3. Advocate for international accountability mechanisms, including:

- Investigations through the United Nations and international courts
- U.S. compliance with international law and treaties
- Congressional hearings into U.S. actions in the region

4. Demand an immediate policy shift, including:

- Ending military aid and arms transfers enabling further destruction
- Redirecting military spending toward reparative justice and humanitarian relief
- Supporting diplomatic, multilateral resolutions grounded in sovereignty and self-determination

5. Direct party committees (International, Media, Peace Action, and Outreach) to:

- Develop a coordinated campaign advancing reparations as a core Green foreign policy demand
- Build alliances with global Green parties and human rights organizations
- Educate the public on U.S. responsibility and pathways to justice
