Background

GPUS Rules and Procedures Article IX is currently titled “GPUS NATIONAL COMMITTEE LISTSERVE PROTOCOLS AND POLICIES“, and makes references through to listservs, email lists, and forums. Since the National Committee voted to adopt Proposal 1276 “Establish Basecamp for GPUS Committees and Staff, With Opt-In Option for Caucuses and State Parties“ this terminology no longer precisely describes GPUS’s online communication platform. This proposal seeks to update language in Article IX to ensure its applicability to current and future communication platforms.

Proposal

Update the title of Article IX from:

“ARTICLE IX: GPUS NATIONAL COMMITTEE LISTSERVE PROTOCOLS AND POLICIES”

To:

“ARTICLE IX: GPUS ONLINE COMMUNICATION PLATFORM PROTOCOLS AND POLICIES.”

Update DEFINITIONS from:

“List / Listserv / Forum – These terms are used interchangeably to refer to a group of people (members) who can send emails to a common email address and have those emails disseminated to the other people who are in the group.”

To:

“Online Communication Platform – Online communication platforms adopted by the National Committee for official party use. Also referred to as “list, listserv, and forum” throughout this article”

Resources

GPUS web manager will update the GPUS website to reflect the updated language.
