Background

The current Article I of the GPUS Bylaws contains only two bare purpose statements, providing no substantive description of the Party’s foundational mission or structure. This proposal expands Article I into three clearly numbered sections that reflect the Party’s actual governing structure and commitments.

Proposal

Amend the GPUS Bylaws, Article I, "Purpose", (https://gpus.org/bylaws/)

Current Bylaws:

ARTICLE I. PURPOSE

1. Assist in the development of State Green Parties
2. Create a legally structured national Green Party Federation

New Bylaws:

ARTICLE I. PURPOSE

1-1 Development of State Green Parties
Actively support and facilitate the growth and development of State Green Parties. This includes providing resources, guidance, and assistance to foster their establishment, organization, and effective functioning

1-2: Recognition of National Caucuses
Recognizes and supports accredited National Caucuses of underrepresented groups as essential components of the Federation. These Caucuses shall have standing within the national party structure, participate in the governance of the Green Party of the United States, and receive support in their organizing, development, and effective functioning alongside State Green Parties.

1-3 Establishment of a National Green Party Federation
These bylaws establish a legally structured national Green Party Federation.
