Background

Whereas an ad hoc group of leading anti-war activists has recently issued a call for a Women's (and allies) March on the Pentagon on the 51st anniversary of the 1967 antiwar march on the Pentagon;
Whereas the call for the March is focused on these core demands: “The complete end to the wars abroad; closure of foreign bases; dramatically slash the Pentagon budget to fund healthy social programs here at home: the only good empire is a gone empire”;
Whereas the Green Party of the United States opposes U.S. imperialism, militarism and war as a matter of principle, reflecting the pillar of Non-Violence and other of our Ten Key Values;
Whereas the purpose of the March is wholly consistent with the Ten Key Values;
Whereas a number of individual Greens have already been involved in building support for this March;
Whereas it is in the interest of the GP-US to be an active part of the peace movement in the United States, and the Women's March on the Pentagon has become a significant focal point of that movement, as reflected in the growing list of individual and organizational endorsers;

Proposal

Therefore, be it resolved:
∙ that the Green Party of the United States endorse the Women's March on the Pentagon;
∙ that the GP-US Steering Committee or someone delegated by the Committee notify the organizers of the party’s endorsement;
∙ that the GP-US take appropriate action to publicize and help build public support for the March; and
∙ that it encourage and help build a strong Green Party contingent at the March.
