Background

ABOUT the COORDINATED CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE
The Coordinated Campaign Committee (CCC) is a standing committee of the GPUS
that cooperates with state and local chapters in the support of federal,
state, and local Green Party electoral campaigns through a variety of
different programs and support functions.

The Coordinated Campaign Committee shall consist of 10 voting members
Drawn from the affiliated state parties and caucuses. The National
Committee shall elect 5 members of the CCC and replacements for recently
opened vacancies with an on line election to be held each year. Nominations
will be called for by the Secretary of the GPUS each year two weeks after
Election Day. A two week nominating period shall be opened, followed by
one week of discussion and an on line STV vote using the GPUS voting page
and following the procedures and protocols the GPUS uses to elect the
Steering Committee. The 5 people elected each year via the regular election
shall serve two year terms while those elected or selected to fill vacancies
will serve out the term of the member they are replacing. In between annual
December elections for the CCC the GPUS Steering Committee shall
appoint Greens to fill vacancies.

The committee shall always have an equal number of males and females on
Its roster except when it has an odd number of members. Then its makeup can
Be +1 for any gender. The exception to this rule is that no member of the
committee shall be asked or forced to resign from the committee in order to
reestablish the gender balance. The balance will be re established by
Adding members to the committee. Each year the election to fill seats on
the CCC shall actually be two elections, one to elect males to the
committee, one to elect females to the committee. The number of men
and women elected in any given year shall be determined by nature of
the vacancies in that year with
the goal of having 5 men and 5 women on the committee.

No State Green Party or GPUS Caucus may have more than one member serving on
the CCC at any time. State Parties and Caucuses must formally, in
writing, nominate one of their members to serve on the CCC. No State
Party or Caucus can nominate more than one person in any given year,
nor can they nominate if a member of their state party or caucus will
continue to serve on the committee after the filling of whatever seats
are being filled. Nominations from State Party or Caucus officers are
to be sent to the Secretary of the GPUS during the
post November Election Nominating Period and when a vacancy is being filled,
and the Secretary shall publish them on the votes email list.

CURRENT ELECTION
The Secretary received nominations for 6 individuals, 5 men and 1 woman. After consultation among the Steering Committee and CCC co-chair, it was agreed to go ahead with the election and then seek to fill the remaining slots for female members.

Subsequently, the female candidate has had to withdraw her name from consideration. The Steering Committee has decided to go ahead with the election for male committee members, and continue to seek to find women to fill the female slots.

Eric Jones Bio

A resident of Buffalo NY, Eric has been involved with the Erie County Green Party since 2002. He served as the party's Electoral Committee Chair from 2003-2006 and was elected the party's Chairperson in the fall of 2006. He has also been a member of the New York State Green Party's State Committee since 2004 and currently serves on its Executive and Campaign Committees.

In 2007 he ran for a seat on Buffalo's common council receiving 8% of the vote in a four way race, the highest vote percentage an independent Green candidate has ever received in Erie County.

Eric has 10 years of media experience having held Jobs in both Television and Radio. He is currently the Senior Promotions Producer for WKBW-TV in Buffalo. He has a Bachelors Degree in Communications/Broadcasting from Buffalo State College. In addition, Eric attended Graduate School at Buffalo State studying Economics. His background also includes seven years of experience as a volunteer firefighter in Williamsville NY.

Greg Gerritt

Greg Gerritt was among the first Green Party candidates for State
Representative garnering 16% of the vote in 1986 in rural maine. Since then
he has run for office twice including runing for mayor of Providence RI in
2002, was the treasurer for a Green congressional campaign, was RI Green
Party Presidential campaign coordinator in 2000 and 2004, has collected
signatures on street corners in every election cycle, and consulted for a
number of candidates. He is the author of "Green Party Tempest" a
recounting of the 2004 Green presidential campaign whirlwind.

Dear Committee Members,

I would like to take this opportunity to nominate Rick Lass, of New Mexico's Santa
Fe County, for the National CCC. I have seen Rick's work at the state level for
several years and have been impressed with his serious approach to Green politics.
Others have commented on his collegiality. At different junctures when serious
acrimony threatened, Rick preferred to use cooperative means to solve conflicts.
His maturity speaks very well to the functioning of any committee or organization
that he is involved with. His accomplishments as a Green over the past thirteen years
can be seen in the resume he prepared and which follows this nomination. It speaks
for itself: significant dedication, hard work and consistent contributions at the
county local, state and national level. He continues to forge ahead and build Green
principles with his work with the Voting Matters organization. I speak for many other
Greens in New Mexico when I say that we are pleased to have him represent our
state at the national level, with this nomination to the CCC.

I first became involved with the Greens during the 2000 presidential campaign. I volunteered for the Nader campaign in Massachusetts and later co-founded the Harvard College Greens. Over the next several years I was active in the Massachusetts Green-Rainbow Party, serving as an alternate member of the state committee and continuing to work with the Harvard College Greens local. In 2002 I was an intern with Jill Stein’s campaign for governor in Massachusetts, I managed the campaign office for most of the summer, until a new campaign manager was hired near the end of my internship. In 2003, I was volunteer coordinator for Aimee Smith’s campaign for city council in Cambridge. I graduated from college in 2004 and then worked full-time on Carolina Johnson’s campaign for State Rep. as her campaign manager. We ran the entire campaign on a few thousands dollars (including a donation from the CCC) and succeeded in bringing new issues into the debate in Cambridge and getting nearly 20% of the vote on election day. After working as campaign manager on the Johnson campaign, I spent six months in Germany as an intern in the German parliament. I moved to Seattle after I got back from Germany, where I worked at a shelter for homeless young adults through AmeriCorps. I volunteered on the Aaron Dixon for Senate campaign while I was living in Seattle, but I had a hard time getting very involved because of my work schedule. Since moving to Chapel Hill in the fall of 2006 to start grad school at UNC I have been looking to get more involved in Green politics again. I have served on the CCC since August 2007, and I have enjoyed the chance to help out strong Green campaigns and to also to get more involved with Green politcs at the national level. I look forward to serving again on the CCC next year.
