Background

The purpose of this ranked choice vote is to elect the Secretary for the GPUS.

Candidate Information

Budd Dickinson
Re-elect Budd Dickinson, Secretary

The Green Party has been very important to me for many years. The Secretary job is a good fit as I am well organized, have the time necessary to do the job, and pay attention to details. I work cooperatively, believing in a politics based on love, understanding, and compassion.

My involvement with the Green Politics movement and the Green Party includes:
Full-time volunteer for Mark Satin's New World Alliance - 1980. (Mark later wrote the 10 Key Values.)
Delegate to first five annual national Greens conferences – 1987-92 and on Platform Committee for what is now G/GPUSA.
Founder of San Francisco Greens – 1985
One of founders of California Green Party – 1991.
Elected to Alameda County (CA) GP County Council - 1992-94 & 1996-2003.
GPUS Platform Committee since 2000, co-chair for several years.
GPUS Steering Committee Co-Chair and Finance Committee co-chair - 2006 to 2009.
NC delegate from GP of Washington State since 2009.

I was involved in the Civil Rights movement in the 1960s and am a life member of the NAACP. My extensive campaign experience includes helping elect the first black mayor of a major eastern city, Newark, NJ, in 1970. I worked on several Berkeley, CA, City Council and mayoral campaigns and as a candidate for Berkeley City Council in 1998 received almost 40% of the vote.

I have a Master of Public Administration and an MA in Psychology.  I am a retired Energy Conservation Engineer with over 25 years in government or semi-public agencies.
