Candidate Information

David Gerry
I offer myself as a candidate for secretary because my experience in the party both at the state and national level have prepared me to perform the duties of secretary. My time on the
Bylaws, Rules Policies and Procedures Committee have made me knowledgeable of the various RPPs of the GPUS, its committees, state parties and caucuses. As co-chair of the BRPP I keep the membership lists up-to-date and assist new members about the workings of the committee. I have been a regular observer on the SC telecons for over two years and have served as one of the facilitators for over a year so I am current with the business and procedures of the
Steering Committee. My duties as co-chair of the Green-Rainbow Party (Massachusetts) included creating agendas for meetings and dealing with queries sent to the party.

There are a few ways that I can see to improve the functioning of the secretary's position and the Steering Committee. If elected I will seek to have an e-mail account established for the secretary instead of messages being forwarded. This will provide an archive and a non-personal address to be used regarding messages sent to secretary@gp.org. Working with other members of the Steering Committee to add to the SC internal procedures guidelines for committee liaison appointments and to define the duties of floor managers.

I thank you for taking the time to read my candidate statement and I hope that delegates and alternates will take the time to ask questions before voting begins.
