Proposal

Amend Chapter II, Social Justice, section A. Civil Rights and Equal Rights by adding a point “k”
to Sub-section 8. Youth Rights
Proposed Changes

k. Youth have the right to a healthy, fully-functional, diverse, and viable long-term environment, as do all people. We support the claims of the Plaintiff in Juliana vs. United States that the government’s irresponsibility toward the environment and lenience toward its destruction are an egregious violation of the constitutional rights of all American youths to life, liberty, and property. We support a "Green Amendment" to the constitution which bestows the right to a healthy, fully-functional, diverse, and viable long-term environment to all persons, and also support a wide-reaching international agreement which assigns legal personhood and international protections to all large swaths of wildlands, creates a framework which keeps the Earth well within its 7 measurable planetary boundaries, and designates at least 50% of the planet as a nature reserve.
