Background

Ariel Ciprian was nominated to fill a vacancy on the Green Congressional
Campaign Committee, with a term to run through December 2025.

BIO FOR ARIEL CIPRIAN
I am reaching out to convey my sincere interest in joining the Green
Congressional Campaign Committee (GCCC). Above all, I am thrilled at the
prospect of becoming a part of the GCCC.

Having been born in Manhattan and raised in the Bronx, I have witnessed
from a young age the disparities between marginalized communities and
more affluent areas. Growing up in a six-story building, I would gaze
out of my small bathroom window and look towards the Empire State
Building, dreaming that one day my community could thrive like the
people in Midtown.

Art and aiding others were passions of mine. I was often the outlier in
my family, speaking out against injustices. While I used to believe
there was something wrong with me, I now understand that the outlier is
the one who speaks the truth, refusing to ignore issues, much like our
nation has done for generations, leading us to where we are today.

My interest in urban design emerged as an opportunity to merge my love
for art and design with my desire to create sustainable and flourishing
communities. As a first-generation American, I faced challenges within
the education system and navigated the pitfalls of predatory loans and
institutions independently.

I found myself ensnared in the cycle of poverty, burdened by debts
accumulated from my education. I was trapped and gave in to the poverty
draft, where the weight of my school debts led me into a cycle of
dead-end jobs. The burden of this overwhelming debt made it seem
impossible to break free. Feeling confined by this financial prison at
just 18, I felt compelled to enlist in the military as my only means of
escape.

During my eight-year military service, which began during the 2016
election, a period of awakening commenced for me. Stationed in Arizona,
I identified as a Green, yet struggled to fully engage due to the
demanding nature of military life that consumed my time and mind. As the
years passed, my health deteriorated, plagued by daily migraines and a
heavy heart. Despite the life I had built, a part of me remained
unsettled, compelling me to seek a different path.

Upon leaving the military, I wasted no time and hit the ground running.
I relocated to Chicago with a clear intention not just to join the
Illinois Green Party, but to immerse myself deeply and support Dr. Jill
Stein. Discovering Green Party candidates at various levels of
government, I recalled criticisms I had heard before about the party's
focus solely on presidential campaigns being seen as self-serving. I saw
this as an opportunity to elevate our congressional candidates,
showcasing that the Green Party offers more than just a presidential
option and providing voters with reasons to choose candidates who
prioritize people, planet, and peace.

In a sudden turn of events, I began to connect with congressional
candidates across the nation. During a visit to family in New Jersey and
encountering the Green 13, I realized the significance of this moment
and found renewed hope for humanity.

I am enthusiastic about delving deeper into the committee, understanding
its requirements, and aligning my skills and ambitions with its goals.
Any guidance you can offer would be highly valued.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I eagerly anticipate the
opportunity to contribute to the GCCC and make a meaningful difference
in the lives of people both domestically and globally.
