Background

The bylaws of the Party specify that
members of the Steering Committee must
be elected from among the Delegates to
the National Committee then serving at
the time of such election and the bylaws
specify that those persons elected to the
Steering Committee shall serve for a term
of office of two years.

However, the bylaws do not specify that
membership on the National Committee is a
continuing condition of holding office on
the Steering Committee; and the bylaws do
not explicitly deny that membership on the
National Committee is a continuing condition
of holding office on the Steering Committee.

This proposal is to explicitly clarify
the terms of continuing a persons membership
on the Steering Committee after their
membership on the CC has changed.

Proposal

The Green Party of the United States
intends that its bylaws should be interpreted
to mean, and do mean, that continued
membership on the National Committee is not
a continuing condition of holding office on
the Steering committee, providing that a
person has been otherwise duly elected to
such an office.
