Background

Earlier this year the Coordinating Committee (CC) discussed changing their official name to the National Committee (NC). Every delegate that stated a position favored the change and the BRPP has responded with this a housekeeping change of by-law, rule, policies and procedures via a resolution to effectuate that change.

Although in external communications all of us will refer to the Green National Committee (GNC), this being the bylaws rules, policies and procedures of the GPUS it would be redundant to say GNC instead of NC in our internal documents since they cannot be anything but self referential. This is why we have proposed saying National Committee or NC, just as we refer to the CC in our documents currently, in the changes.

We have also included a note at the beginning of the bylaws section that used to be "Coordinating Committee" and is now changed to "National Committee" that it was "Formerly known as the Coordinating Committee prior to April 2005" just so there is no confusion if "new" people hear the term Coordinating Committee and don't understand it.

Proposal

Be it resolved that all official references to the "Coordinating Committee" of the Green Party of the United States (GPUS) in its Bylaws, Rules, Policies, Procedures and other official documents be changed to read "National Committee"

Be it further resolved that all references to the acronym "CC" (as a designation for the Coordinating Committee) in the above stated documents be changed to read "NC".

Be it further resolved that the first mention of the "Coordinating Committee" in the Bylaws of the GPUS be changed from:

ARTICLE II. MEMBERSHIP AND COORDINATING COMMITTEE

to read

ARTICLE II. MEMBERSHIP AND NATIONAL COMMITTEE (FORMERLY KNOWN AS THE COORDINATING COMMITTEE, PRIOR TO APRIL 2005)

Be it further resolved that, via this housekeeping resolution, the Secretary of the GPUS be instructed to effectuate these written changes.
