Background

In February of 2007 the National Committee approved having the 2007 national meeting of
the Green Party of the United States in Reading, Pennsylvania from July 12-15. Since
then the Annual National Meeting Committee along with representatives of the Green
Party of PA to create a budget for this year’s meeting. The budget is accessible
through the link in the "References" section below.

In the final budget we are estimating approximately $20,761 in total costs to be
covered by registration fees. We are approximating 220 paid registrations with various
attendance including full registration, one day passes and student fares. The cost per
person is considerably less than previous years' meetings, especially if one registers
early.

Registration does not include meals or lodging and information will be provided on the
registration page regarding this, along with info on fund raising events being
organized by the Berks County Greens and the Green Party of PA on behalf of GPUS and
the local parties.

As mandated by the GPUS National Committee in the spring of 2004, this budget reflects
the funds to cover the registration waivers and meals for 15 people from traditionally
disenfranchised groups. The total of $2250 will be taken out of the GPUS general
funds. The waiver application process will be handled and announced by the GPUS
Diversity Committee and/or the Annual National Meeting Committee. With the exception of
funds to cover Steering Committee and Staff, there are NO funds available in this
budget to supplement travel, lodging, registration or food for any other delegates or
attendees than those awarded by the diversity committee. Delegates are expected to rely
on their state and local parties for any supplemental funding to attend the national
meeting.

Proposal

The national committee of GPUS approves the attached budget for the 2007 Annual
National Meeting in Reading, PA, and approves a transfer of $2,250 from the GPUS
General Operating Fund to the Annual Meeting budget to cover meals and registration
waivers for attendees to increase diversity at the annual meeting as required by GNC
proposal 81. The Diversity Committee will be handling the application process for
meals and registration waivers in conjunction with the GPUS Steering Committee.
