Background

The GPUS Communications Committee was created several years ago, when the GPUS was formed. The committee has been inactive for the past few years. Most of its tasks have been automated or taken on by other committees. Its purpose has since been taken up by other entities: the Code Weavers, now an informal group of Green IT specialists; the Forum Managers; and update of the Delegates' page and manual, now found on the GNC Committee page. Any other projects originally proposed for the committee could easily be taken up by current committees of the GPUS.

Over a year ago, the Steering Committee agreed by consensus that the Communications Committee be removed as an official GPUS committee, but some confusion remains over whether there must be a GNC vote to officially disband the committee.

At present, the Communications Committee has not been active for several years;
Its original purpose has since been taken up by other areas of the GPUS;
Listing of this committee's name on the gp.org Committees page creates confusion.

Proposal

To reflect the current committee structures that exist and avoid any confusion, the Communication Committee shall be dis-banded, and the listing on gp.org should be removed.
