Background

As the elected leadership, the GPUS SC is charged to “Gather information and report
emerging problems and opportunity to the National Committee” and “Make recommendations
and proposals to the National Committee based on those reports”. The SC conference calls
every two weeks are 2 to 3 hours long, yet largely deal with administrative work, leaving
little or no time for discussing long-range strategy and plans of action.

The SC and staff had the last three-day face-to-face meeting in 2004 in Washington, D.C.
This proposal will resume those meetings. In addition, the SC and staff will do an early
visit to the site of the 2008 Convention and begin to work toward that event with state
and local Green Party members.

Proposal

That the GPUS National Committee authorizes appropriation of GP funds for a face-to-face
meeting of the GPUS Committee and full-time staff for one weekend at the site of the 2008 GPUS Convention.

Resources

Maximum $2980: airfares to total no more than $2350 for all participants,
food to total no more than $330 ($10 per day per participant), and lodging beyond
homestays to total no more than $300.

TIMELINE: Relative to the location
