Background

Per the policy adopted in Proposal #266, Process for Resolution of Procedural Objections (adopted, 4/1/07), the Green National Committee is asked to vote on whether to uphold the Steering Committee's decision to send a proposal recently submitted by the Green Parties of California and Washington to the Bylaws, Rules, Policies and Procedures Committee.

The CA/WA proposal addresses the apportionment formula for delegates to the presidential nominating convention. BRPP, currently working on several presidential nominating convention documents, requested that the Steering Committee refer the proposal to BRPP. BRPP was given two weeks to review and work on the proposal in conjunction with the sponsors; otherwise, the CA/WA proposal would go to the voting queue on Monday, October 15.

In this case, you are voting FOR or AGAINST the SC decision. A YES vote means that you agree that BRPP should be given an opportunity to go over the proposal before sending it to the voting queue. A NO vote means you believe the proposal should go, as is, to the voting queue immediately.

Proposal

The Green National Committee shall sustain the decision of the Steering Committee, that the Proposal on Presidential Nominating Convention Delegate Apportionment, submitted by the Green Parties of California and Washington, shall be sent to the Bylaws, Rules, Policies & Procedures Committee
before being sent to the voting queue.
