Background

Frank Young, GNC delegate from the Mountain Party of West Virginia, has submitted his resume and intention to join the GPUS Finance Committee. His political bio is included, below.

According to GPUS Rules and Procedures:

"Any member of the National Committee may join with voted approval of the National Committee. With the approval of their affiliated state party, persons who are Green Party members but not National Committee members may join if approved by the National Committee.

"Prospective committee members for the Finance Committee shall inform the Steering Committee of their interest, so that the Steering Committee may call for a timely election for approval of the new member. Members may serve until they resign or are removed by their state party. Members may also be removed for cause by the National Committee upon a proposal from the Green Party Steering Committee."

Political biography for Frank Young:

I have worked since 1988 to get progressive candidates elected to the West Virginia governorship and state legislature. In 1999, realizing that the Democratic Party bosses and their saluting lieutenants rarely support truly progressive candidates, some of us determined to start a new and progressive West Virginia political party. In November 2000 our candidate for Governor, Denise Giardina, polled almost two percent of the votes cast, and the WV Mountain Party was born.

I consider myself a fiscal conservative- meaning that I favor realistic budgeting and frugal management of both organizational and personal monies. My financial experience includes owning and operating an automotive service business for 23 years, including managing a payroll of seven (7) employees, and with an annual budget approximately equal to the proposed 2009 GPUS budget. For several years I have been the treasurer of three (3) non-profit environmental and social justice organizations. I have been Treasurer of the WV Mountain Party, and Chair of its nominations committee, since 2002.

I became an alternate delegate to the Green Party National Committee in August, 2007. I have been a full delegate since June 2008. In July 2008 I was a delegate to the GPUS national convention. I have enthusiastically supported the Green Party's choice for President and Vice-President along with our Mountain Party candidates here in West Virginia.

I would like to serve on the GPUS Finance Committee to help our Green brothers and sisters have a better party from which to launch progressive candidates who will advocate for and work toward social justice for people everywhere.
