Background

The 2004 GPUS Platform does not adequately address non-violence. Non-violence is one of our 10 key values and a pillar of the Global Greens movement. We would like the GPUS Platform chapters to mirror the pillars of the Global Greens movement. We also want to highlight our positions on non-violence at home in the United States and across the world. In our 2004 platform, we only address ways to resolve violent conflict between Palestine and Israel.

Move and update text from Chapter 2, Section H, Subsection 18 on abolishing the death penalty to this new section. Greens support the abolition of the death penalty.

Move and update text from Chapter 2, Section H, Subsection 24 on gun control to this new section.

Move and update text from Chapter 2, Section H, Subsection 26 on school violence to this new section.
