BIO, GLOBAL GREEN CONGRESS ALTERNATE delegate:
Bob Marsh:

Greetings from Kigali, Rwanda, where I will be working for the next week giving a tech training to partners from Senegal, Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda.

Please consider this a self-nomination for Alternate Delegate to the 2012 Global Greens Congress. Here's why I am qualified:

1. I attended the Canberra Congress in 2001 as an observer, where I learned a lot, and was greatly encouraged by the experiences of the many international Greens that I met there, as well as by speeches by Wangari Mathai, Ingrid Betancourt and others.

2. In 2004, I co-founded a San Francisco-based NGO (www.inveneo.org) that works to bring internet access and equipment to developing countries in Africa, Haiti, So.Asia and the Middle East. This work has taken me to 12 African countries (including Senegal), as well as Nepal, Bangladesh and Palestine. While last in Rwanda in 2009 I met all the Green Party steering committee, including Frank Habineza, and visited his home and family.

As part of my work, this year I have spent the most time managing 4 large IT projects for schools and youth clubs in Palestine, where I have seen first hand the effects of the inexcusable policies of the US and Israel governments.

3. I speak some French, as well as English (mais pas bien, sans beaucoup de la pratique).

4. I promise to fulfill all the duties of Alternate as outlined in our bylaws and IC rules.

5. I can afford to travel to Dakar (having plenty of frequent flyer miles)

The Global Greens Congress is a great opportunity to acquire information about the accomplishments of Greens in many other countries. One of the biggest problems with American democracy is the American public's wide spread ignorance of other countries, their practices, policies and cultures. I will do my best to communicate all I learn at the GGC to other Greens, both in the IC and others.

Thanks for your consideration,
Bob Marsh
Berkeley, CA
