Proposal

That Platform 2010 of the Green Party of the United States, in Chapter II, related to "Social Justice", Section E., related to "Education and the Arts", is amended by striking paragraph b., which reads:

b. Provide free college tuition to all qualified students at public universities and vocational schools.

inserting in its place the following:

b. Provide free college tuition to all qualified students at public universities and vocational schools. It's time to forgive all student and parent loans taken out to finance post-secondary and vocational education.

That Platform 2010 is further amended, in Chapter IV, related to "Economic Justice and Sustainability", by adding a new paragraph 12., to the section labeled 'Banking reform' to read:

12. Access to primary, secondary, post-secondary and vocational education should be a right of all, not a privilege of the wealthy, and certainly not an opportunity for predatory lenders. It's time to forgive all student and parent loans taken out to finance post-secondary and vocational education. The estimated $40 billion is a fraction of the bailout distributed among the predatory lenders who created the student debt crisis and would make a material difference for households across the country.
