Background

GPUS Bylaws state (http://www.gp.org/documents/bylaws.shtml#04-02) that one of the responsibilities of the GPUS Steering Committee is to

4-2.10 Carry out directives from the National Committee that do not conflict with this Article or are otherwise consistent with the party's governing documents.

The Steering Committee is responsible for proposing an agenda for each GPUS Annual National Meeting (ANM). Currently there is no systematic review and analysis by the GPUS of its presidential campaigns and nomination process.

This proposal would direct the Steering Committee to include in the agenda of each ANM after a presidential election year, a debriefing session on the Green Party's candidacy and campaign in that just concluded presidential cycle.

Proposal

Be it resolved that the National Committee directs the Steering Committee to include in the agenda of the Annual National Meeting of each year after the presidential election, a debriefing session on the Green Party's candidates and campaign, to include but not be limited to the Presidential and Vice-Presidential candidates, their campaign staff and volunteers, representatives of the GPUS Presidential Campaign Support Committee and Annual National Meeting Committees (to report on their roles during the process), Presidential Convention Honorary Co-chairs and the Convention Election Administrator (to report on their roles during the process) and other party members and individuals as may be relevant to ensure the breadth, depth and accuracy of such a debriefing/review.

Resources

Implementation/Timeline/Resources: The Steering Committee would include this directive in its regular planning process for the Annual National Meeting in the year after each presidential election. Resources would include those necessary to ensure presentations are made in an effective manner, including audio and visual capabilities normally associated with such a regular Annual National Meeting. This proposal does not commit additional financial resources to ensure attendance of any particular individuals. Such choices are left up to the planning process for each individual Annual National Meeting.
