Background

GPUS Rules and Procedures directs the Steering Committee to nominate 3 Forum Managers and 1 Alternate Forum Manager. Holly Hart and Frank Young were approved by the National Committee in April 2015 to finish out a term ending in December 2015, leaving 2 positions open.

From Linda Cree:

I began my work as a Green in the mid-eighties as part of the Upper Great Lakes Green Network.Ê After a move to northern Wisconsin in 1985 during the height of the ChippewaÊtreaty rights controversy, I co-founded aÊlocal group, Citizens for Treaty Rights,Ê(CTR) that worked with Wisconsin Greens such as Walt Bressette,Êone of the founders of the Wisconsin Green Party.Ê Working with Walt and other Greens such as Bruce Hinkforth, Sierra Powers, and Rick Whaley, along with the MadisonÊ Treaty Rights Support Network and the Witness for Non-Violence,ÊCTR was able to host the Witnesses for Peace and help provide a peace presence at the landings - as well asÊgetÊcorrect info out to the residents of northern Wisconsin on the treaty rights to counter the inflammatory info being put out by some in the DNR and by anti-treaty groups.Ê
Ê
The fledgling Wisconsin Green Party was not only on the cutting edge of the treaty rights issue,ÊbutÊalso the push for a sulfide mining moratorium thatÊgained so much momentum even pro-mining Governor Tommy Thompson had to sign it into law in 1998.Ê It has resulted in Wisconsin being called one of the worst places to get a mine in byÊthe mining industry.
Ê
In 2000 and 2004 I was active on the Nader campaign with the Marquette Greens, and since 2006 I'veÊworked with the Green Party of MichiganÊ (GPMI).Ê I'm currently on GPMI's Platform Committee and State Central Committee, and, at the national level, amÊa delegate to the GPUS National Committee, and a member of the GPUS Platform Committee.

Proposal

The National Committee approves Linda Cree, Green Party of Michigan, as Forum Manager to serve the remainder of the term ending December 31, 2015.
