The current plank “Labor” addresses the need for a living wage, but does not adequately address the widespread demand for a minimum wage of at least $15 per hour that has unified a broad spectrum of organizations and individuals across the country.

To amend Chapter II (2), Section G, Article 2f

Current language of plank that is being addressed:
(2) f. All workers, temporary or permanent, must be paid a living wage.

Proposed amendment of the current language:
(2) f. All workers, temporary or permanent, must be paid a living wage. The federal minimum wage for all workers should be set to at least $15 per hour, indexed to inflation.

Approval of this proposal will amend the 2016 Draft Platform, which will be approved by the GPUS 2016 Presidential Nominating Convention and published on the GPUS website in or before September, 2016.
