BIO, GLOBAL GREEN CONGRESS ALTERNATE DELEGATE:
I am Julie Saporito-Acuña, and am a 31-year-old white female from New Jersey. I’ve been the Green Party of New Jersey Chairperson since June 1, 2016. I’ve been an official member of the Green Party for 3 years and have been voting green since the 2012 general election.

I am currently involved in the additional national committees and caucus:

National Committee Delegate (New Jersey)
International Committee
Annual National Meeting Committee
National Women’s Caucus

I am a firm believer that to be Green is to be Socialist. I voted in favor of the 835 Eco-Socialist Platform Amendment. At the Young Greens meeting during the Nov. 20th FPVA conference, I had the opportunity to Skype with young greens from Central and South America and from Europe. Eco-socialism was brought up and we spoke briefly about how we can strengthen this within all green parties globally.

If elected, this would be my first experience at a Global Greens Congress. While reading the impressive pedigrees of the co-chairs and others, I do hope the International Committee members seek to expand opportunity to newer, less experienced members.

My goals for attending the 2017 Global Greens Congress are:

-Represent the GPUS IC and fulfill any requirements and/or inquiries I am tasked with.
-Learn the structure, intricacies, and strategies of global Green Parties.
-Network with fellow greens, especially young greens. Establish formal and informal communications.
-Connect with eco-socialist greens and strategize how to best exemplify socialism in all Green Parties.

I would absolutely love to report back to the International Committee on the progress that takes place at the Global Greens Congress.
