Background

The Diversity Committees proposal to the CC, called, Diversity at
Green Party National Committee meetings, specifically lists
people of color, women, lesbians, gays, bisexual, transgendered
and intersexed individuals, youth, and disabled individuals as the
folks who could benefit from special fundraising to help pay their
registration and meals at the upcoming national CC meeting.

The Lavender Green Caucus represents gay, lesbian, bisexual,
transgendered, intersexed and queer Green Party members (see
our complete mission statement below). We object to queers
being left out of the Diversity Committees proposal. We propose
this amendment to specifically include queers in the Diversity
Committee proposal so that it will be in line with the NLGC mission
statement.

Proposal

Anywhere in the proposal, Diversity at Green Party National

Mission The National Lavender Green Caucus (NLGC) is the Green Partys advocacy group on gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and queer (GLBTIQ) issues. NLGC works for the elimination of heterosexism and all its manifestations such as homophobia, violence, prejudice, and injustice against GLBTIQ communities. NLGC also works for the elimination of racism and sexism and all their manifestations in GLBTIQ communities and in society as a whole. Our work is centered in the ten key values and four pillars of the Green Party of the United States. The caucus recognizes that freedom and social justice for GLBTIQ individuals will only come with the liberation of all people, and we actively view ourselves as a part of a broader movement for social justice.
