Background

NOTE: Quorum is 32 states/caucuses at this time.

The current Committee Rules of the Annual National Meeting Committee (ANMC) contain a submission deadline for proposals to host the GPUS Presidential Nomination Convention. That deadline is set on a specific date - May 31 of the year before the convention - rather than in relationship to the timing of the Annual National Meeting (ANM) the year before the convention.

Yet it has been the goals of the GPUS to hear presentations from potential hosts at the ANM the year before the convention, so that questions can be asked and better inform National Committee delegates who will then vote on potential dates and locations. Having a fixed date - instead of one relating to the dates of the ANM - can create an unnecessarily premature submission deadline. This proposal would address that by tying the submission deadline to the ANM dates.

That the ANMC Committee Rules be amended as follows:

5.1 The ANMCom sets forth a schedule whereby all proposals will be finalized no later than May 31 of the year prior to the PNC.

5.1 The ANMCom sets forth a schedule whereby all proposals will be finalized and submitted to the Annual National Meeting Committee no later than 30 days prior to the Annual National Meeting of the year prior to the PNC.
